Ashley Nicole Wilkins
Ashley Nicole Wilkins, 34, of Anna, passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019.
Ashley was born on Dec. 26, 1984, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the daughter of David and Pam Little Wilkins.
She lived her whole life in Southern Illinois and graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School, received her associate of arts degree from Shawnee Community College, and also attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Family was always important to Ashley and her greatest treasures were her daughter, Izley, and her son, Riley.
One of Ashley’s favorite holidays was Halloween and she always loved dressing up and helping her children with their costumes; face painting was her specialty.
She was artistically talented and created some of the most unique and compelling drawings and bracelets using vivid colors.
Ashley was a strong-willed, outspoken and free-spirited young woman, who always stayed true to herself. She touched the lives of so many people. She was kind and funny, generous and giving, and had the most beautiful smile.
Ashley is survived by a daughter, Izley Rowan of Anna; a son, Riley Rowan; her parents, David Wilkins of Cobden and Pam Wilkins of Anna; grandfather Roger Wiseman of Cobden; aunt and uncle Glenda and Randy Little of Anna; aunt and uncle Sarah and Steve Wilkins of Alto Pass; aunt and uncle Sheri and Bobby McCann of Alto Pass; aunt and uncle Jeanne and Dan Brumleve of Cobden; and great-aunt and uncle Sharon and Jeff Harris of Anna; numerous cousins; and a dog, Lexie.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Evelyn and Earl Kirkpatrick and Carol Jean Wiseman.
The opiate crisis affecting this county is an epidemic that has no boundaries. Addiction doesn’t discriminate and its effects on our children, our families, our friends, and society is indescribable. Please add your voice to the thousands of others across this country who have experienced first-hand the destruction of this substance use disease. We must all band together to advocate at the national, state and community level for more available services, resources, and support to help those afflicted, while demanding harsher penalties under the law for offenders.
Public visitation for Ashley will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Hileman & Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, immediately followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. Pastor Matt Hartline of the First Baptist Church of Cobden will be officiating.
Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and can be made to Izley and Riley’s college fund, Izley and Riley Rowan Fund, in care of The Bank of Carbondale.
