Allie Jane Sullens

Allie Jane Sullens, 82, of Cobden, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. 

She was born on Nov. 6, 1937, in Cobden, the daughter of Hobert and Geneva Hooppaw McCann. 

She married William Max Sullens on Oct. 15, 1955, in Cobden. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 2005.

She is survived by her children, Lori (Randy) Gooden of Urbana, Sheryl Knupp of Cobden and Kevin Lee Sullens of Cobden; grandchildren Ryan (Jessica) Knupp, Shayn Knupp, Jessica (Evan) Rothstein, Christopher (Sara) Sullens, Brandon (Morgan) Sullens, Brian Sullens, Tyler Sullens, Kevin Sullens, Ashley Sullens, Robert (Aimee) Gooden, Mathew Gooden, Morgan (Ross) Daily and Megan Kilburn; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Shirley Frick of Creve Coeur and Sue McCann of Texas; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, William Max Sullens.

She was always so full of life. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cobden as a young woman. She worked at Florsheim Shoe Company for 10 years.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday, March 2, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, with Pastor Ed Falgout officiating. Interment was in the Cobden Cemetery.
