Alice Rhey Zeschke
Alice Rhey Zeschke, 86, of Dongola, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
She was born on July 9, 1937, in Alto Pass, the daughter of Alvin W. and Cleo M. Neighbors Boone.
She married Walter William Zeschke on Oct. 5, 1956, in Holly Springs, Miss. They shared 58 years together. Walter preceded her in death on March 12, 2014.
She is survived by her children, Walter (Lisa) Zeschke of Anna, James (Mary) Zeschke and John (Tammy) Zeschke, all of Dongola, Lee Anne (Mike) Bryant of Leland, N.C., and Peter Zeschke of Anna; grandchildren Rachel Rios, Jill (Larry) Gore, Alicia (Chris) Needham, Andrea Lambert, Stephanie Zeschke, Adam Zeschke, Brent (Myranda) Zeschke, Brandon Zeschke, Bradley (Lindsay) Zeschke, Erica (Joseph) Miller, Taylor Bryant, Mackenzie Bryant, Alex (Laramie) Zeschke, Austin Zeschke and Addison Zeschke; great-grandchildren Jason, Riley, Logan, Colton, Easton, River, Sophie, Brynleigh, Duke, Wynter, Sarah, Gracie, Kinsley, Henry, Blaine and Matti; “niece daughters” Carmen (Toby) Rhine of Dongola and Debbie Bollhorst of Clifton; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two brothers, Richard and Alvin Boone.
Mrs. Zeschke was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Anna. She was an avid seamstress and quilter. She enjoyed attending historical reenactments.
For 10 years, she managed the Super K (now Acee’s) convenience store in Dongola. She also served as a librarian and operated the concession stand at Dongola Lake. She will be forever remembered as a loving and supportive wife, mother, grammy and friend.
Funeral services for Alice Zeschke were at 1 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Pastor Jason Holden officiating. Interment followed in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
