Alice Faye Bridewell

Alice Faye Bridewell, of Grand Chain, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.

She was born on Aug. 30, 1935, the daughter of James Benjamin McCabe and Goldie Gertrude Oller, and grew up in Tamms. 

She was married to Edmond George Bridewell until his death on June 11, 2019.

She leaves a son, William Robert Bridewell (Belinda) of Green River, Wyo.; a daughter, Beth Elaine Dover (Malcolm “Kent”) of Grand Chain; grandchildren Kiele Bridewell Jensen (Josh) and Logan Bridewell, all of Rock Springs, Wyo., Jonathan Dover (Kristie) of Paducah and Alex Dover (Lindsey) of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Hadlee Jensen, Dominic Jensen, Lillian Bridewell, Deion Bridewell, Gavin Dover, Addison Dover and Sarah Dover; step-grandson Kelly Monaghan (Lydia) of Corvallis, Ore.; step-great-grandson Nolan Monaghan; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers Robert James McCabe and Charles Joseph “Buddy” McCabe; a sister, Elizabeth June McCabe Dillow; and a granddaughter Rachel Paige Dover. 

Funeral services and internment were at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge on Friday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating.
