Notre Dame edges Cobden in title game

Cobden lost 5-0 to Cape Girardeau Notre Dame in the championship of the Cape Girardeau high school softball tournament Saturday, Oct. 3.

Taylor Wilkins was 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Appleknockers. Kayla Quertermous and Kristin Pender were each 1-for-3. Ana Duda was 1-for-4 with a double.

DaCota Knop was the losing pitcher, scattering 9 hits to go with a walk and 3 strikeouts.

Cobden 7, Luther South 3: Knop was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI to lead Cobden to the win earlier Saturday.

Quertermous was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs. Pender was 2-for-4 with a double. Jordan Grey was 1-for-2.

Pender was the winning pitcher, scattering 8 hits to go with a walk and 8 strikeouts.

Cobden 7, Farmington 1: Pender was 2-for-3 to lead Cobden.

Grey was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Duda was 2-for-4. Hannah Spalt was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Wilkins was 1-for-3. Emily Flamm was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Emily Murray was 1-for-4.

Wilkins was the winning pitcher with a seven-hitter to go with no walks and 7 strikeouts.

Cobden 3, Kelly 2: Knop was the winning pitcher with a two-hitter in 12 innings. She recorded no walks and 14 strikeouts.

Pender was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI to lead the hitting. Knop was 1-for-5 with an RBI. Quertermous was 1-for-5.

Cobden 17, Joppa 0: Wilkins was 2-for-3 to lead the hitting attack in a regular season home game Friday, Oct. 2.

Krysti Davis, Katelyn Wiggs, Pender and Spalt were each 1-for-1. Flamm and Katie Mowell were each 1-for-2.

Wilkins was the winning pitcher with a one-hitter to go with no walks and 7 strikeouts.

Cape Girardeau Notre Dame 1, Cobden 0: The Appleknockers were held to one hit in the loss to host Notre Dame in a regular season game Friday, Oct. 2.

Winning pitcher Lauren Reinager had no walks and 14 strikeouts.

Losing pitcher Knop scattered 4 hits to go with a walk and 5 strikeouts.

Wilkins was 1-for-3 with a double for the lone Cobden hit.

Cobden 4, Cape Girardeau Notre Dame 3: Murray and Pender were each 2-for-4 to lead Cobden in the junior varsity game win.

Hailee Clarke was 1-for-3.
