Cobden scores victory in championship game

Cobden defeated Goreville 9-4 to win the South Egyptian Conference high school softball tournament at Shawnee College near Ullin Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Kristin Pender was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs to lead Cobden’s hitting attack.

DaCota Knop was 2-for-5 with a home run and 4 RBIs. Kayla Quertermous was 2-for-5 with 2 doubles and an RBI.

Emily Flamm was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Emily Murray was 1-for-2. Taylor Wilkins was 1-for-3. Ana Duda was 1-for-4.

Jessica Wright was 2-for-4 to lead the Lady Blackcats. Taylor Odum was 1-for-2. Ashlee Webb, Allison Webb and Caitlyn Parmly were each 1-for-3.

DaCota Knop was the winning pitcher, scattering 7 hits to go with a walk and 7 strikeouts.

Jeri Maze was the losing pitcher.

Cobden 11, Century 0: Pender fired a one-hitter to lead Cobden to the semifinal tournament win Monday, Oct. 5.

She had no walks and 8 strikeouts.

Quertermous was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and 5 RBIs to lead the hitting attack. Flamm was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Duda was 2-for-3. Knop was 1-for-2. Pender was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Murray was 1-for-4. Hannah Spalt had an RBI.
