Joseph Michael Curdie

Joseph Michael Curdie, 65, of Cobden, died at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Union County Hospital.

He was born on Jan. 12, 1944, in Alton, the son of Joseph Bud and Zelphia Kathleen Hughes Curdie.

He married Marilyn L. Brimm on May 15, 1971, in Anna.

He worked for many years as a machinist for Olin Corporation in Alton. He was a member of the IAM Local No. 660.

Mr. Curdie is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Cobden; one son, Michael R. Curdie of Jefferson City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one aunt, Peggy Sledge; and one uncle, David Sledge.

Graveside services for Mr. Curdie were at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Interment was in Valhalla Memorial Park with the Rev. Paul Militzer officiating.

Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna was in charge of arrangements.
