Utah concealed carry course sessions planned

Shawnee Community College is planning to offer the Utah concealed carry course  sessions in the area.

The course is scheduled Saturday, March 23, at the college's main campus near Ullin.

Two sessions are scheduled – one from 8 a.m. until noon and the other from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

An evening session also is scheduled on Friday, March 22. The course will be from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the college's extension center in Anna.

The Utah concealed firearm permit training class takes four hours to complete.

Firing of a firearm is not required to obtain the non-resident Utah concealed firearm permit.

The permit is valid for five years and training is not required for renewal.

The Firearm Safety Group will provide the training an™d will include all the training materials, photos, and fingerprint cards.

A fingerprint technician will be present at the class and will be charging a $10 fee. This is required to submit a non-resident application.

The fee for the class is $100. Preregistration and payment is required and must be received by March 16.

The cost of the class does not include a $51 registration fee to the State of Utah.
