Edith Ann "Edie" Ice

Edith Ann "Edie" Ice, 59, of Anna, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at her home. She was born Oct. 22, 1956 in Anna, the daughter of Roy "Bud" Jr. and Shirley Ann "Sam" (Poole) Modglin.

She is survived by her brother, Roy Modglin of Mounds; step-brother Leonard Sadler of Anna; step-sister, Sue Abernathy of Anna; cousins; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church. Edie was a 1974 graduate of Anna-Jonesboro Community High School, she obtained numerous post graduate degrees from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Edie worked for the State of Illinois for 20 years before her retirement. She worked as an investigator for the Department of Children and Family Services, the Department of Corrections and Department of Rehabilitation Services.

She was generous with her time, she volunteered four years as a candy striper at Union County Hospital as well as four years volunteer work at Choate Mental Health.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Darryl Williams officiating. Interment was in the St. John's Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to P.A.W.S. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
