Etta Baggott

Etta Baggott, 87, of Cobden, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at Jonesboro Rehab and Health Care Center in Jonesboro.

She was born on Oct. 31, 1921, in Makanda, the daughter of Alvah and Mary Stearns Nance.

She married Raymond Baggott on April 1, 1939. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2009.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cobden. She was a 50-year member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Raymond D. (Diane) Baggott of Du Quoin and Gary L. Baggott of Anna; one daughter, Faye Baggott of Cambria; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Violet “Polly” Renner of Crainville; one brother, Ray (Kathy) Nance of Marion; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; five brothers, James, Melvin, Moody, Cecil and Lloyd “Porky” Nance; and three sisters, Bertha Crowder, Louise “Dude” Penrod and Alice “Dean” Presley.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Crain Funeral Home, Anna-Jonesboro with the Rev. Terry Kern officiating. Interment was in the Anna Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Bethel Church or TIP Hospice.

Crain Funeral Home, Anna-Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.
