A-J defeats Massac in volleybal

Lindsey Patterson had 12 serves, 9 serve receives and 14 digs to lead Anna-Jonesboro in high school volleyball to a 20-24, 25-19 and 25-19 win over visiting Massac County Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Leslie Donna had 12 serves, 10 serve receives and 18 digs.

Chandra Parr had 12 serves, 11 serve receives, 7 hits and 5 kills.

Rachel Hayden had 19 digs, 10 hits and 3 kills. Karley Heath had 34 sets and 12 assists.

Adriel Cross had 19 sets and 7 assists. Kaylee Little had 11 hits, 5 kills and 4 blocks.

Emma Basler had 7 hits and 3 kills.

Sammi Coleman and Jayda Rendleman had 9 serve receives apiece in A-J’s 17-25 and 15-25 loss to Massac County in the junior varsity game.

Chandra Parr, Makenzie Housman, Fallon Clayton and Amanda Conaway had 3 serves apiece. Parr had an ace.

The Wildcat varsity improved to 16-12 overall and plays in the Vienna regional this week.

A-J plays Massac County at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, today, in first-round action.

The Anna-Jonesboro High School freshman volleyball team finished the 2009 season with a 13-0 record.

Rebecca Mitchell was the team leader in hitting and scoring.

Cheyenne Lingle led in digs and serve receives.

Amanda Conaway was the leading setter.

The team is coached by Jenny Sadler.
