Mary E. Penrod

Mary E. Penrod, 85, of Dongola, died at 4:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Union County Long Term Care in Anna.

She was born on Feb. 4, 1928, in Anna, the daughter of John and Ruth Brimm Hill.

She married Dorris Penrod on April 16, 1948.

She liked to paint.

She is survived by her husband, Dorris Penrod of Dongola; two daughters, Debra (Kenneth) Whitlow of House Springs, Mo., and Beth (Lawrence) Horvath of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Michael (Jen) Whitlow, Scott (Jodi) Whitlow, Cynthia Whitlow, Timothy (Lisa) Whitlow, Elissa Horvath and Eric Horvath; four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Noah, Myla and Ava Whitlow; three sisters, Pearl Douglas of Florida, Francis (Phil) Lewis of Centralia and JoAnn (Don) Lessar of Clinton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola with the Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Interment was in Friendship Cemetery.
