Wildcat baseball team goes 1-3 in recent action
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School baseball team went 1-3 in recent action.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Du Quoin 12, A-J 2:</strong> The visiting Wildcats couldn’t hold a 2-0 lead after the 1st inning in the Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference Mississppi Division loss Friday, May 1.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Wade Haire was 2-for -2 with an RBI to lead A-J at the plate. Isaac Pender was 1-for-2 for A-J.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Collin Prather and Noah Prater pitched in the loss for the Wildcats.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>A-J 12, Cobden 5:</strong> Prather was 4-for-5 with a grand slam home run and 5 RBIs to lead the visiting Wildcats to the win against their county rival Wednesday, April 29.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Pender was 3-for-5 with a double, 3 stolen bases and an RBI for A-J. Blake Klett was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Prater was 2-for-5 with a stolen base and an RBI. Michael Ralls was 1-for-3 with a stolen base. Braydon Benefield was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Troy Baggott and Nathan Vicenzi each had a stolen base.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Logan Spalt was 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Appleknockers. Cayden Childers was 2-for-3 with an RBI. J.T. Moore was 2-for-4 with an RBI.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Pender was the winning pitcher, scattering 10 hits to go with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Moore and John Russell pitched in the loss, combining to scatter 13 hits to go with 4 walks and 9 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Carterville 6, A-J 1:</strong> Prather was 1-for -2 to lead visiting A-J in the loss Tuesday, April 28.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Haire was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Wildcats. Osman, Prater and Benefield were each 1-for-3.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Klett was the losing pitcher, scattering 7 hits to go with 3 walks and 10 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Sparta 9, A-J 8:</strong> Prather was 3-for-5 with a double and a stolen base to lead the visiting Wildcats in the loss Monday, April 27.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Prater was 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBIs. Klett was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Pender was 1-for-2 with a double, 3 stolen bases and an RBI. Osman was 1-for-4 .</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Prater, Michael Ralls and Hunter Ralls pitched in the loss, combining to scatter10 hits to go with 7 walks and 5 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">A-J, 6-13, is scheduled to play Thursday, today, at home against Massac County.</span></p>
