Shawnee, Meridian win in tournament action

Shawnee and host Meridian won in first-round action at the Lady Bobcat high school girl’s baskeball tournament Monday, Nov. 16.

Following are game summaries:

Shawnee 50, Century 40:  Kaylee Boston scored 27 points to lead the Lady Reds.

Taylor Ellis had 6 points, followed by Jonnie Ellet 5, Jordan Johnson and Jessie Reynolds 4 apiece and Reagan Brown and Morgan Kennedy 2 each.

Shawnee led 11-7 after one quarter and 17-14 at the half.

Meridian 43, Dongola 36: Haley Fuller had 11 points to lead the Lady Demons.

Emily Terbrak added 9 points, Michela Penrod 6, Katie Lathan 5, Jody Schultz and Becky Holt 2 apiece and Joanne Smith 1.

Dongola trailed 11-9 after one quarter and 24-9 at the half before making a come-back-bid in the final half.
