Shawnee baseball wins regional title

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Shawnee High School baseball team won its ninth consecutive Class 1A regional championship with a 12-5 victory over Trico at Steeleville Saturday, May 23.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Nick Crane had a grand slam home run to help power Shawnee to the regional title. Crane was 1-for-3 with 4 RBIs.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">T.J. Foeste was 1-for-3 with an triple and an RBI. Eli Baltzell was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Brady Reynolds, Hunter Myers and Michael Crane were each 1-for-3. Pitchers Nick Crane and Hunter Smithey combined to scatter 8 hits.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Shawnee 3, Woodlawn 2:</strong> Foeste was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Redskins to the regional win Thursday, May 21.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Baltzell and Logan McMahan were each 2-for-3. Dylan Boston was 3-for-5 with a stolen base. Michael Crane was 2-for-6 with a stolen base. Myers was 1-for-4.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Boston was the winning pitcher, scattering 7 hits to go with a walk and 8 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Shawnee, 15-10, was scheduled to play Cobden in the Class 1A sectional at Bluford earlier this week.</span></p>
