Michael R. Haynes

Michael R. Haynes, 60, of Cobden, died at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at his home.

He was born on Feb. 23, 1949, in Chicago, the son of Wilbur and Mildred Brown Haynes.

Mr. Haynes is survived by his wife Debbie Haynes of Cape Girardeau; children, Michelle (Robbie) Lingle of Anna, Shawn (Christina) Haynes of Anna and Jennifer Davis; two stepchildren, Michael Alsip of Anna and Jalana Johnson of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Ashlee Lingle, Joshua Lingle, Bryce Lingle, Sydni Haynes and Gabriel Haynes; four sisters, Sharon Brooks of Thebes, Dee Dillon of Anna, Penny Feickert of Faulkton, S.D., and Candy Huckleberry of Alhambra; one brother, Frankie Cahill of Arkansas; seven nieces; four nephews; Nurse Nancy, a special friend, Beth Harvel, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Haynes enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968, he served one tour in Vietnam Conflict, where he earned a Bronze Star and also served two tours in Korea. He worked at File Supply Co. for several years, and most recently as a riverboat cook for Material Data Service Barge Co. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and liked gardening.

Memorial funeral services for Mr. Haynes were at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with the Rev. E.D. Francis officiating. Interment was private.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
