Carl Edward McClellan

Carl Edward McClellan, 85, of Cape Girardeau and formerly of Pulaski, died at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.

Mr. McClellan was born on Oct. 30, 1923, in Pulaski, the son of Gus and Essie Mize McClellan.

He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Pulaski. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 672 AF/AM of Cape Girardeau. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother, Owen McClellan.

Survivors include two sons, Scott McClellan of Cape Girardeau and Marvin Maxwell of Tunnel Hill; a daughter, Sharon Morissette and husband Bob of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Oliver “Junior” McClellan of Pulaski; four sisters, Marie Foster of Pulaski, Marilea Bagby of America, Ill., Dorothy Gibbs and husband Paul of Mounds and Louise Newell of Pulaski; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge with the Rev. Buddy Walls officiating.

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski, with full military honors given by the Illinois Army National Guard honors detail and local veterans.

Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
