Anna 14 and under girls’ fastpitch softball team completes season

<p class="p1">The Anna 14 and under girls’ fastpitch softball team ended its season with a 6-5 record.</p><p class="p1">Highlights from the team’s season follow:</p><p class="p1">Hannah Hileman had a 3-run homer in the final game when Anna defeated the Vienna Hornets 16-8 on July 2.</p><p class="p1">“An unnamed person” (adult) close to the team made a friendly challenge to catcher Grace Acuff and second baseman Lily Yana that if they successfully picked off a base stealing runner at second base in the final game, this person would do cartwheels across the ball field. They did and she did.</p><p class="p1">Anna had no strikeouts in 22 at bats in its June 26 15-0 victory over McClure.</p><p class="p1">On June 30, Anna had only two strikeouts in 31 at bats in a 17-6 win over the Vienna Wreckers.</p><p class="p1">Anna pitcher Molly Sichling struck out seven of 24 at bats against the Vienna Wreckers on June 30 and struck out five of 12 at bats against McClure on June 26. On July 2, she struck out 10 of 31 at bats against the Vienna Hornets.</p><p class="p1">Offensively, Grace Acuff led the season with 16 runs scored and 16 hits.</p><p class="p1">Molly Sichling contributed 13 runs. Hannah Hileman had 12. Jera Reynolds and Arizona Smith had 11 runs each. Alysa Flores and Alliegh Curtis each had 10 runs.</p><p class="p1">Chaden Jordan, Lily Yana, Lexie Lingle, Shaeley Hennessy, Jenna Watkins and Alexis Peterman also contributed.</p><p class="p1">Jera Reynolds and Grace Acuff both successfuly stole home nine times during the season.</p><p class="p1">Molly Sichling stole home eight times and Chaden Jordan seven times. Arizona Smith and Hannah Hileman each scored five of their runs by stealing home.</p><p class="p1">Lexie Lingle and Alliegh Curtis stole home four times. Alysa Flores and Lily Yana also stole home successfully.</p><p class="p1">The team was coached by Christy Acuff, Julie Yana and Mike Gambill. </p><p class="p1">The team was sponsored by Bronz Buns and Ozbourn Chiropractic.</p>
