Vern Francis Henson

Vern Francis Henson, 93, of Anna, died at 4:30 am, Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015 at the Jonesboro Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born on Sept. 21, 1921 in Gideon, Missouri, the son of Thomas and Cora (Thomas) Henson. Vern was united in marriage to Margie Marie Hartline on March 31, 1962 in Jonesboro. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2011.
He was a laborer all of his life. He had worked at West Brothers Coal Company for eight years and the Anna Rock Quarry for seven years. Vern also worked for all of the local orchards. He then went to work for the City of Jonesboro where he worked for several years before retiring.
He is survived by seven children, Elice (Jerry) Lowe of Visalia, California, Loretta (Roy) Money of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Marilyn Sue Henson of Jonesboro, Teresa Halterman of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Carroll (Donna) Henson of Dongola, Vern (Barb) Henson Jr. of Vienna and Roger Dale Hartline of Cobden; 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his wife Margie; three daughters, Melba Mixen, Louise Mobley and Mary Jane; one son, George Henson; five grandchildren, Johney Roach, Tammy Sue Baggott, Jamie Gonzalez, Larry Lee Henson and Randy Dale Lowe; one great-grandchild, Jeremy Greuter; five brothers and one sister. Vern loved life and he loved his family more than anything and he will be missed by many.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday Aug. 22, 2015 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with the Rev. Gary Roach officiating. Interment was in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
