Cobden drops two games at tournament

<p class="p1">The Cobden High School baseball team lost a pair of games at its own tournament Saturday, May 2.</p><p class="p1"><strong>New Athens 3, Cobden 2:</strong> New Athens scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 7th inning and held on for the win in the Appleknockers’ final game Saturday.</p><p class="p1">J.T. Moore  was 1-for-4 with a two-run home run for Cobden. Cayden Childers and Trevor Middleton were both 1-for-2.</p><p class="p1">Moore was the losing pitcher, allowing 7 hits.</p><p class="p1"><strong>Benton 8, Cobden 1:</strong> Childers was 3-for-3 to lead the Appleknockers at the plate in their opening game loss.</p><p class="p1">Logan Spalt and Parker Flamm pitched for Cobden, combining to allow 11 hits.</p><p class="p1">Cobden fell to 16-5 overall.</p>

<p class="p1">Logan Spalt was the starting pitcher for Cobden in a high school baseball game which was played Saturday. Cobden faced Benton in the opening game of an invitational tournament which was hosted by the Appleknockers.</p>
