Congratulations, champions

Six-word memoirs and accolades seem to be the “in” thing these days. The idea is to try to sum up an entire lifetime, or, perhaps, some other momentous occasion in just six words.

So, we’ll try one: Cobden High School softball. Repeat champions.

With a magnificent, 19-inning victory over Alexis United last Saturday afternoon, the Cobden High School softball team won its second consecutive Illinois High School Association Class 1A state championship.

Team work, a sense of family and supreme dedication to a common goal carried the Cobden squad to its very special achievement.

This week, we join in saluting the Cobden High School softball team – its players, coaches and fans.

Six words just might not be enough to say what a fine job the team did. A thousand words might not suffice. So, we’ll just go with one: Congratulations.
