The campaign begins

It really does not seem possible, but another election campaign is about to begin in Union County.

Next Monday is the first day for candidates to file nominating petitions for the 2010 primary election, which is scheduled in February.

Union County voters will elect a county commissioner, a county treasurer, a county clerk and a county treasurer in 2010. Voters also will pick precinct committee men and women next year.

Voters also are expected to have a say in the future of the Union County Courthouse. Should we build a new courthouse, or should we renovate the existing structure?

Critical issues await the candidates and the voters. We hope the focus will be on what really matters – the future of Union County.
