Wildcat baseball team goes 1-3
<p class="p1">The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School baseball team posted a 1-3 record in recent action.</p><p class="p1"><strong>Sparta 8, A-J 7:</strong> Isaac Pender was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs to lead the host Wildcats in the loss Friday, May 8.</p><p class="p1">Collin Prather was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI. </p><p class="p1">Noah Prater was 2-for-4 with a triple, three stolen bases and an RBI. Wade Haire was 2-for-4 with an RBI.</p><p class="p1">Michael Ralls was 1-for-1 with a stolen base and an RBI. Braydon Benefield was 1-for-2 with a double. Nathan Vicenzi was 1-for-3. Bryce Osman had a stolen base. </p><p class="p1">Pender was the losing pitcher, scattering 9 hits to go with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts.</p><p class="p1"><strong>Carterville 4, A-J 3:</strong> Michael Ralls was 2-for-2 with a stolen base to lead A-J in the opening game loss of a double-header Thursday, May 7.</p><p class="p1">Prater was 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Troy Baggott was 1-for-1. Pender was 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Bryce Osman was 1-for-3 with a double and a stolen base. Blake Klett was 1-for-3. Prather was 1-for-4 with a double. </p><p class="p1">Prather and Prater pitched in the loss, combining to scatter 8 hits to go with 2 walks and a strikeout.</p><p class="p1"><strong>Massac County 12, A-J 2:</strong> Pender was 1-for-2 with 2 RBIs to lead A-J in the nightcap loss in the doubleheader Thursday, May 7.</p><p class="p1">Prather and Prater were each 1-for-2. Osman was 1-for-3.</p><p class="p1">Hunter Ralls, Prater and Nathan Vicenzi pitched in the loss, combining to scatter 11 hits to go with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts.</p><p class="p1"><strong>A-J 4, Zeigler-Royalton 1:</strong> Wade Haire was 2-for-3 with a three-run home run to boost A-J to win over the visiting Tornadoes Wednesday, May 6.</p><p class="p1">Prater was 2-for-3 with three stolen bases for the Wildcats. Pender was 1-for-2 with a stolen base. Michael Ralls was 1-for-2. Klett was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. </p><p class="p1">Michael Ralls was the winning pitcher with a four-hitter to go with 5 walks and 8 strikeouts.</p><p class="p1">A-J, 7-19, is scheduled to play today, Thursday, at home against Herrin.</p>
