Shawnee baseball scores wins over Goreville, Cobden

The Shawnee High School baseball team won twice in recent action.

Following are game summaries:

Shawnee 4, Goreville 1: Kyle Stevens was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs to lead Shawnee over host Goreville Friday, Sept. 11.

Tyler Glidewell was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Gary Pind and Greg Smith were 1-for-3. Aaron Lambdin was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Tyler Brant was 1-for-4.

Greg Smith was the winning pitcher, scattering 6 hits to go with no walks and 3 strikeouts.

Shawnee 3, Cobden 2: Kyle Stevens was 2-for-2 with an RBI to lead host Shawnee to the 8-inning win Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Adam Pennington, who had the game-winning RBI, was 1-for-3.

Glidewell, Anthony Crane and Lambdin were each 1-for-3. Ty McMahan was 1-for-4.

Aaron Cerny was 1-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBIs to lead the Appleknockers.

Steve Draper was 1-for-3. Alex Sweitzer was 1-for-4 with a double.

Tyler Brant and Adam Pennington pitched in the win.

Brant pitched 4 innings and allowed 4 hits to go with 2 strikeouts and 3 walks.

Pennington pitched 4 innings and didn’t allow a hit to go with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.

Steve Draper, Alex Sweitzer, J.C. Chapman pitched in the loss, combining on 7 hits to go with 5 walks and 5 strikeouts.
