Rayburn Masters
Rayburn Masters, 88, of Anna, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the Veterans Medical Center in Marion.
He was born on May 28, 1921, in Bush, the son of Charles and Grace Tanner Masters. He married Verna L. Cochran on Oct. 6, 1943.
Mr. Masters is survived by his wife, Verna of Cahokia; one daughter, Brenda K. (Dale) Roberts of Justice; one son, Ronald L. (Alicia) Masters of Murrieta, Calif.; one brother, Virgil Masters of Anna; one sister, Mildred Foster of Elkville; and seven grandchildren.
He was retired from the former Cerro copper and brass corporation of Monsanto. For the past five years he lived at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna. He leaves many friends at the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. Masters were at 4 p.m. Monday, June 1, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna with the Rev. Scott Kelley officiating.
Interment with military honors was Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
