Alma Jean Tottleben

Alma Jean Tottleben, 82, of Carterville died Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the home of her sister, Loretta, in Jonesboro, Ill.

It was Jeanís wish to be cremated and services will be held at a later date. Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to TIP Hospice or Crainville Baptist Church.

Jean was born on June 4, 1927 in Carterville to William E. and Estella C. (Morris) Tottleben. 

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Glenna Tottleben of Carterville; two sisters, Catherin Stewart of St. Louis and Loretta McRaven of Jonesboro, Ill.; and several very special nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, William Ellsworth Tottleben. 

Jean retired after thirty-three years as an Elementary School Teacher from both Energy and Crainville schools, teaching grades fifth thru eighth.

She honorably served her country in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of SP5 while stationed in Ft. Monroe, Va.

Jean was a lifetime member of Crainville Baptist Church.

She enjoyed traveling, crocheting and doting over her nieces and nephews. Jean always put others before her, taking care of everyone else.
