Young people can audition for roles in SIU musical
The McLeod Summer Playhouse is offering an opportunity for young performers to audition for the upcoming musical “Gypsy.”
On May 23-25, Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s professional theater company plans to have special auditions for area children to fill the featured roles of “Baby June’s Newsboys” in the musical.
Young actors who can play boys ages 10-12 are welcomed to audition.
Auditions are scheduled on the SIU campus at Altgeld Hall in room 116.
Audition slots are by appointment only. Performers must sing and dance well. All children who plan to audition must live or have housing with an approved guardian in the Southern Illinois area during the times of rehearsals and must have transportation to and from the rehearsal spaces in Carbondale.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to become familiar with the play and the roles.
Auditions are specifically for the upcoming production of “Gypsy” this summer. Performances are set for July 12-14 and July 19-21.
Information about scheduling an audition, and about the musical, is available by contacting McLeod Summer Playhouse at 618-453-5741 or email email@example.com.
The McLeod Summer Playhouse 2019 Season is sponsored by SIH.
