Homecoming celebration planned at A-JCHS
A fall tradition featuring football, a parade, coronation of a queen and king and many other activities is set to continue next week at a Union County school.
Homecoming will be celebrated at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. The A-JCHS Student Council is planning the celebration.
Homecoming activities are planned Sept. 23-28. This year’s theme is “Dancing Through the Decades.”
Daily themes have been set for homecoming.
Monday will be Pajama Day. Tuesday will be Decade Day. Wednesday will be Meme Day.
Thursday will be Blue and White Day. Blue and white are the school’s colors. Friday will be Class Color Day.
A homecoming parade is set for Friday, Sept. 27. Parade units will start lining up at noon at the Anna City Park.
The student council noted that the plan is for parade units to step off from the Anna City Park by Rusty’s at 1 p.m.
Units will proceed west on Davie and turn south on Main. The parade route will end at Stinson Memorial Library.
All participants will be asked to enter the park at St. Mary’s Church.
Anyone who is interested in participating in this year’s parade is asked to register through the Google Form linked on the homepage of the school website: www.aj81.net.
Organizers said that those who want to participate in the parade can fax the following information to 833-5931: organization, contact person, contact phone, contact e-mail address, walking or riding, and number of vehicles, if applicable.
Queen, King Coronation
Coronation of the 2019 homecoming queen and king is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, in the Union Hall gymnasium at the school.
