Exhibits, camps, musicals, Annabelle Festival events set at Anna Arts Center

The Shawnee Hills Arts Council has a wide range of upcoming events on the calendar.

The arts council operates the Anna Arts Center. The center is located at 125 W. Davie St. in Anna.

Here’s a look at upcoming events:

Strictly Digital Photography Exhibit

The exhibit features farms and barns. A closing reception is planned from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on June 13.

Auditions for Musical

Auditions for “Heather: The Musical” are scheduled May 23-24 at the arts center. The auditions are planned from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

The musical is scheduled to be presented Aug. 16-18.

Southern Illinois Music Festival

Tuesday, June 4, 7:30 p.m. Chamber music concert. Tickets will be available at the door.

Wednesday, June 5, 10 a.m. Klassics for Kids. Free admission.

Saturday, June 8, 3 p.m. Young artists will perform opera scenes.

Summer Camps

June 5-7, 9 a.m. to noon. What is Batik?

June 10-21, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Learn sign language camp.

June 10-14, 9 a.m. to noon; and June 10-14, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Unleash the Artist Within.

June 17-28, 9 a.m. to noon. Drama camp.

June 17-21, 9 a.m. to noon, arts camp, The Next Level: Art from Recyclable Materials. 

Annabelle Festival

Annabelle Festival events are scheduled June 7-9 at the arts center.

Friday, June 7, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Painting party.

Friday, June 7, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Life in Southern Illinois art competition and exhibition.

Friday, June 7, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Annabelle Festival flower arrangement competition. Co-sponsored by Anna-Jo Garden Club.

Saturday, June 8, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Life in Southern Illinois art competition and Annabelle Festival flower arrangement competition.

Saturday, June 8, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Smokey Bear poster contest. First through 5th graders are invited to participate in the contest.

Sunday, June 9, noon to 2 p.m. Life in Southern Illinois art competition and exhibition. Annabelle Festival flower arrangement competition.

“One Smart Pig” Musical

Performances of the musical “One Smart Pig” are set for 2 p.m. June 9 and at 7 p.m. June 10-11.

All ticket sales go to Marlee Smith for her medical bills.
