Myrtle Rita Walters Nelson

Myrtle Rita Nelson, 69, of Marion, died at 2:24 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Helia Healthcare in Carbondale.

She was born on Dec. 9, 1939, in Chicago, the daughter of Charles and Helen Kelly Walters.

She married Donald Nelson Sr. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 2008.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by a son, Donald Nelson Jr. and wife Colleen of Justice; a daughter, Theresa Gibson of Plainfield; one brother, Charles and wife Jeanne Walters of Marion; a sister-in-law, Karen and husband Chester Coder of Anna; two granddaughters, Traci and husband Brian Millette of Goreville and Ashley and husband Peter Jeglinski of Chicago; two great-granddaughters, Hailey and Katelyn Millette; one great-grandson, Peter Jeglinski; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Nelson Sr.; a daughter, Kelly Ann; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Elaine Nelson; and a sister-in-law, Judith Basak.

Funeral Mass for Mrs. Nelson was at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in Tinley Park. Interment was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Worth.
