Monique Janine Burklin, 74, of Cobden, died suddenly at 12:20 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 in the Union County Hospital in Anna. She was born April 30, 1940 in Paris, France, the daughter of Renee Marie Laudrain. She married George Bryan Burklin on May 30, 1959 in Chicago. Together they had five children.
She is survived by her loving husband, George Burklin as well as her adoring children, Randy (Sherry) Burklin, Alethea (Stace) England, Jeff (Susan) Burklin, Michele (Mark) Scanlon, Mark Burklin, Laura (Michael) Golden, Michael (Sherry) Burklin; 16 cherished grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two brothers, Jean-Pierre (Jeannine) Chamoreau and Camille (Jocelyne) Chamoreau both of France. Monique was proceeded in death by her mother, one brother Claude Chamoreau as well as numerous cats and dogs whom she loved immeasurably throughout the years.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, baking, playing online games (especially puzzles) and was dedicated to rescuing stray animals. If possible, Monique would have saved every homeless and helpless animal she encountered. Monique’s husband George describes her as the sweetest most loving woman on earth who loved her family dearly.
Services will be private (no flowers please). Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Animal Rescue of your choice.
