Mildred Irene Menees

Mildred Irene Menees, 91, of Anna, died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born on April 11, 1918, in Union County, the daughter of Everett and Grace Bean Menees.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Afton Menees of Anna; two nephews, Roger (Sharon) Menees of Anna and Dean (Elizabeth) Corbit of Buncombe; four nieces, Donna (Dr. Larry) Dyer of Foristell, Mo., Ilene (Larry) Grant of Jonesboro, Marcia (Kevin) Bauer of Taylorville, and Diana (Fletcher) Johnson of Eldorado; 16 great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Vesta Menees and Lois Corbit; one brother, Don Menees; and a great-nephew, Shannon Menees.

She was a member of the Camp Ground Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she served as Sunday School secretary for many years.

She grew up on the family farm east of Anna and worked at the Union County Hospital as a housekeeper, from which she retired. She liked working on crafts, gardening and making Bible school craft projects.

Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Dr. Larry Dyer officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery.

Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna was in charge of arrangements.
