Maxine Stokes

Maxine Stokes, 86, of Jonesboro, died at 6:05 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 in the Union County Hospital Long Term Care in Anna. She was born Sept. 25, 1929 in Dongola. The daughter of Emery and Beulah Peeler Lingle. She married John Moses Stokes on April 26, 1965 in Carbondale. He preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2014.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Brown of Anna; son, Billy Travis of Anna; six grandchildren, Michael Brown, Lisa Mowell, Rachel Travis, Jeremy Travis, Crystal Valletta, and Kari Hogue; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Audrey Bracken of Anna; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John Moses Stokes; and one sister, Marlene Crowe.

She was retired from Choate Mental Health and Development Center after 22 years as a technician.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Randy Morgan officiating. Interment was in the Casper Cemetery in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
