Mary Magdaline (Mag) Barnes Thurston
Mary Magdaline “Mag” Barnes Thurston, 89, of Pulaski, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at Jonesboro Rehab and Health Care Center in Jonesboro.
Mrs. Thurston was born on Jan. 25, 1920, in Elva, Ky., the daughter of Bill Barnes and Ivy Stephens Barnes.
Mrs. Thurston was a member of the Pulaski Christian Church. She was a homemaker.
On Nov. 10, 1943, she married W.H. (Bill) Thurston, who preceded her in death on April 30, 1987.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a stepson, Clinton Thurston; a sister, Martha Ellis; brothers Paul and Billy Barnes; and a grandson, Ronnie Gee.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Terry Gilliam of Paducah and Linda and Gary Ward of Bolivar, Mo.; three sons and daughters-in-law Jerry and Kathy Thurston, Darrell and Linda Thurston, all of Pulaski, and Benny and Phyllis Thurston of Sikeston, Mo.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Bonnie and Kenneth Willis of Olive Branch, and Betty and Heinz Gee of Cottage Grove, Minn.; a sister, Mabel Kepner of Victorville, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thurston were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Pulaski Christian Church with Wiley D. Godfrey officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski.
