Mary L. Farris
Mary L. Farris, 84, of Cairo, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo.
Mrs. Farris was born on Jan. 15, 1925, in Olive Branch, the daughter of Amel and Ruby Faye Pettit.
Mrs. Farris was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilburn Paul Farris in 1957; a son, James Edward Farris; sisters Alice Phillips and Gladys Mitchell; and a brother, Kenny Pettit.
Survivors include four sons, Paul (Susie) Farris of Villa Ridge, Larry Dean (Miranda) Farris of Paducah, Kenneth Ray Farris of Cairo, and Steve (Sondra) Farris of McClure; three daughters, Brenda (C.J.) Davis of Cairo, Donna Faye (Rodney) Pearman of Anna, and Sandra Kay (Teddy) Hernden of Barlow, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers Harold Pettit of Cape Girardeau, Donnie Pettit of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Martha Lou Eryart of Granite City; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Farris were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms with the Rev. Mike Sharp officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
