Marion man sentenced for burglary

A Southern Illinois man has been sentenced to serve time in prison in connection with a residential burglary in Union County.

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds reported that Morgan X. Alexander, 24, of 1704 W. Maplewood St. in Marion had been sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on a charge of residential burglary, a Class 1 felony.

Alexander was indicted by a Union County grand jury in November 2010. The indictment followed an extensive investigation conducted by the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

Edmonds said that Alexander burglarized a home on Lick Creek Road in rural Union County in August 2010. Electronic items were taken from the home.
