Margaret Lorene Modglin

Margaret Lorene Modglin, 90, of Troy, and formerly of Granite City and Anna, died at 12:20 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2009, at her daughter’s home in Troy, surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 28, 1918, in Dongola, the daughter of Vernon and Maude Brown Vincent.

She married William Robert Modglin on June 26, 1938, in Benton, Mo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1978.

Mrs. Modglin is survived by a daughter, Roberta Kay (Walter) Lewis of Troy; a son, Kenneth (Fay) Modglin of Mesquite, Texas; two sisters, Opal Miles of Carterville and Beatrice Gregory of Cuba, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Vincent of Owensville, Ky.; a brother-in-law, James Modglin of Anna; five grandchildren, Cheryl (John) Reisenleiter, Christine (Walter) Ordway, Michael Lewis and fiance Robin Seago, Shannon Davis, and Heather Modglin; nine great-grandchildren, Brooke Streicher, Jennifer (Newton) Tilson, Kyle and Cole Hoelscher, Madilyn Lewis, Gina Davis, Jacob Lewis, James Davis and Jordan Modglin; Tyler and Tori Seago; fifth generation three great-great-great-grandchildren, Keaton, Payton and Ashton Tilson; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Robert Modglin; an infant son, Rovelle; and a brother, Donald Vincent.

Mrs. Modglin was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anna. She worked for Famous & Barr in St. Louis for several years before retiring to Anna.

Funeral services for Mrs. Modglin will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with the Rev. Charles West of Bethalto officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery.

Friends can call at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.
