Margaret “Mac” Johnson

Margaret “Mac” Johnson, 95, of Metropolis and formerly of Ullin, died at 4:45AM on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Metropolis Nursing and Rehab.

She was born Dec. 28, 1916 at Ullin, IL, the daughter of Richard and Sophia Stodacher Echols.  She graduated from Ullin High School in 1931 and was married on Dec. 23, 1936 to Gordon “Porky” Johnson.  To this union 4 children were born.  Mac and Porky spent most of their lives together raising their family and operating Porky’s Restaurant in Ullin.

She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Metropolis.

Survivors include her daughter, Yvonne Rath of Metropolis; son L. E. Johnson of Lafayette, LA; 6 grandchildren, Kathleen (Gary) Loss, Karla (Marty) Brooker all of Fairfield, Greg (Suzanne) Johnson of Canton, MI, Richard Johnson of Eaton, OH, Eric (Lia) Douglas of Schaumburg, and Courtney Ledbetter of Metropolis; 8 great grandchildren; 2 nieces, 2 nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sons, Gordon “Buckshot” Johnson and Kay Lewis Johnson, great grandson Matthew Vaughn, and 2 sisters, Eva White and Helen Kennedy.

Visitation for Margaret “Mac” Johnson will be from 10-11 Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin.

Services will be at 11am Tuesday at the funeral home with Father Chris Mujule officiating.  Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
