Lick Creek School hosts 55th annual invitational track meet

Eleven teams converged on Lick Creek School Friday, April 24, for a day filled with excitement as the school hosted its 55th invitational track meet.

The Lick Creek girls won the invitational. The Lick Creek boys finished second.

The meet started with the running events for kindergarten through 5th grade. A large crowd was on hand to witness the elementary kids events.

The weather cooperated as the temperature rose into the mid-80s. A breeze was a welcome addition to help cool the crowd.

Goreville defeated Jonesboro 61-46 to win the elementary division. Lick Creek finished 3rd with 42 points.

The following won ribbons for Lick Creek:

Angel Helm, 1st place, 50 yard dash, 2nd grade.

Elle Basler, 2nd place, 75 yard dash, 4th grade.

Zach Overstreet, 4th place, 50 yard dash, 1st grade.

Zach Parr, 100 yard dash, 3rd place, 5th grade.

Hannah Schlenker, 100 yard dash, 2nd place, 5th grade.

400 relay, Dakota Hileman, Hannah Schlenker, Hannah Reach, Elle Basler, 1st place, 5th grade.

The following students participated in the elementary events from Lick Creek:

In the junior high school division, the Lick Creek girls defeated New Simpson Hill 93-51. Cypress placed 3rd with 33 points.

High jump, Rebecca Mitchell, 4-7, 1st place.

400 relay, Amanda Conaway, Nina Mattingly, Rebecca Mitchell, Chandra Parr, 1st place, 1:00.12.

400 meter, Chandra Parr, 1:17:47, 1st place.

1600 meter, Shyann McLernon, 1st place.

Varsity relay, Amanda Conaway, Alexis Schaefer, Nina Mattingly, Rebecca Mitchell, 2:07:41, 1st place.

100 meter, Chandra Parr, 13:19, 1st place.

800 meter, Shyann McLernon, 3:12.47, 1st place; Katie Grant, 3:12.69, 2nd place.

200 meter, Rebecca Mitchell, 30:59, 1st place.

1600 meter relay, Katie Grant, Nina Mattingly, Shyann McLernon, Amanda Conaway, 5:28.81, 1st place.

The Lick Creek boys took 2nd place with 35 points. New Simpson Hill won first place with a score of 64.
