Lick Creek finishes third at tournament

Courtney Root scored 14 points to lead Lick Creek to a 39-27 win over Zeigler-Royalton for third place in the Giant City junior high school girl’s basketball tournament last week.

Erica Friebel added 12 points for Lick Creek. J.J. Ford chipped in 6 points, Balyie Denny 4, Hannah Schlenker 2 and Katy King 1.

Goreville 54, Lick Creek 26: Root scored 11 points to lead Lick Creek in the loss in tourney action.

King added 7 points, Ford 6 and Friebel 2.

Lick Creek 43, Creal Springs 26: Root tossed in 17 points to lead Lick Creek in the first-round tourney win.

Friebel added 9 points, Ford, Kennedy Sturgeon and King had 5 apiece and Denny 2.
