Lady Wildcats top Carterville to win regional championship

The Anna-Jonesboro Lady Wildcats beat Carterville 4-2 to win the Vienna Class 2A softball regional championship Saturday, May 23.  

A-J’s Rachel Hayden pitched shutout 4 innings with 3 strikeouts and only allowed 1 hit in the victory.

Lindsey Patterson also pitched for the winners. She had 3 strikeouts and allowed 2 runs and 2 hits.

Patterson had a  big day at the plate, with 4 hits and an RBI.

Hayden was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Mahala Prater was 3-for-4. Jordan Edwards was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Hillary Abernathy was 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Amanda Dillow was 1-for-4.

Anna-Jonesboro was scheduled to play host Pinckneyville in Class 2A sectional action Wednesday, May 27.

A-J improved to 25-4 with the regional championship victory.

Opening round win

Jayda Rendleman was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and 4 RBIs to lead the Lady Wildcats to a 10-0 victory over host Vienna in a first-round regional game played Wednesday, May 20.

Rachel Hayden pitched 4 innings with 3 strikeouts, 2 walks, and gave up 3 hits.

Lindsay Patterson pitched 2 innings with 2 strikeouts, 1 walk and no hits.

Hayden and Fallon Clayton were both 3-for-4. Hayden had a double and 2 RBIs.

Mahala Prater was 1-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBIs. Kylee Lence was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Hillary Abernathy and Amanda Dillow were both 1-for-3.
