Lady Wildcats score victory over Cobden

<p class="p1">Balyie Denny scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, and added an assist to lead host Anna-Jonesboro to a 47-40 win over Union County rival Cobden in high school girls’ basketball Monday, Dec. 22.</p><p class="p1">Elle Basler added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the Lady Wildcats.</p><p class="p1">Haley Inman scored 7 of her 8 points in the closing frame. She also had 5 rebounds and an assist.</p><p class="p1">Lexa Sharp had 4 points and 2 steals. Connar Hadley had 2 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Hunter Denny had 3 steals, a rebound and an assist. Caitlin Sawyer had 2 rebounds. Ally Reynolds had 4 rebounds.</p><p class="p1">Sandra Hartline had 14 points to lead Cobden. Taylor Tomazzoli added 10 points, Elena Kinsey 6, Alaina Hartline and Keileigh Britt 4 each and Gregoria Rafael 2.</p><p class="p1">The Lady Wildcats led 6-2 after one quarter and 18-11 at the half. The Appleknockers fought back to pull to 34-32 headed into the final period. A-J outscored Cobden 13-8 in the final period.</p><p class="p1">A-J, 5-7, plays again Tuesday, Jan. 6, at home against Sparta. Cobden is scheduled to play again Saturday, Jan. 3, at home against Cairo.</p>
