Lady Wildcats fall in three recent games
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School girls’ basketball team dropped three games in recent action. </span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Sesser-Valier 53, A-J 41:</strong> The Lady Wildcats couldn’t recover from a rough second quarter in the loss to the host Lady Red Devils Saturday, Jan. 30.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Elle Basler scored 15 points to lead the Lady Wildcats. Connar Hadley added 10 points, Jasmin Foster 7, Angel Helm 5 and Julie Ellis 4.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Pinckneyville 45, A-J 38:</strong> A-J couldn’t hold a first quarter lead in the loss at home against the Lady Panthers Thursday, Jan. 28.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Basler had 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals to lead A-J. Foster had 9 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Helm had 6 points and 2 rebounds. Hadley had 5 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal. Lexa Sharp had 2 points, 5 rebounds and an assist. Lexi Smith had 2 points and a rebound.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Carterville 48, A-J 37:</strong> Balser had 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal to lead the visiting Lady Wildcats in the loss Tuesday, Jan. 26.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Hadley added 7 points, 6 rebounds and an assist. Foster had 7 points, 2 rebounds and a steal. Sharp had 6 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds. Helm had 4 points, 5 rebounds and a steal.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">A-J closes its regular season Thursday, today, at home against Sparta.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Lady Wildcats play in the Vienna Class 2A regional next week.</span></p>
