Lady Wildcat softball team wins games

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">After starting off the season with three losses, the Anna-Jonesboro Community High School softball team bounced back to win a pair of games in recent action.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>A-J 6, Cobden 3:</strong> Reagan Morrison was  3-for- 3 with an RBI to lead the host Lady Wildcats to the non-conference win Monday, March 30.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Madeline Mayo was 2-for-3  with a double for A-J. Katie Williams was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Haley Inman was 2-for-4. Hailley Abernathy was 1-for-2. Mckenzie Carter was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Katie King was 1-for-3. Mackenzie Conway had an RBI.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Kaitlin McWhorter and Josi Braden were each 2-for-3 to lead the Appleknockers at the plate. Keileigh Britt was 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI. Carley Washer and Makynzie Peterman were both 1-for-3. Brooke Bailey was 1-for-4.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Britni Helton was the winning pitcher. She pitched 6 innings and allowed 8 hits to go with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Carter pitched the final inning and allowed 2 walks.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Washer was the losing pitcher, scattering 12 hits to go with a walk and 2 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Cobden is scheduled to play Thursday, today, at home against Massac County,</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>A-J 16, Shawnee 0:</strong> Morrison was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs to lead the host Lady Wildcats to the win Wednesday, March 25.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">King and Abernathy were each 1-for-2 at the plate for A-J. Conway was 1-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBIs. Katie Williams and Mayo were each 1-for-3. Inman was 1-for-4. </span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Abbey Livesay was 2-for-3 to lead Shawnee. Abbey McMahan was 1-for-3.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Carter was the winning pitcher with a two-hitter to go with no walks and 11 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Molly Stevens was the losing pitcher.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">A-J, 2-3, is scheduled to play Friday at Herrin.</span></p>
