Kenneth L. Rowley

Kenneth L. Rowley, 68, of Jackson, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Roy Wilbur and Winnifred Opal Edwards.

He and Dorothy Muster Crites were married on Jan. 3, 1987, in Jackson.

He was a graduate of Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on July 9, 1963, and served in Germany during the Vietnam War, being honorably discharged on July 25, 1966.

He worked at Proctor and Gamble in Cape Girardeau from 1969 until retiring in 2000.

He was a former member of St. James United Church of Christ in Tilsit, where he served on the cemetery committee and various other committees. In 2006 he transferred membership to Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, where he was a church usher and liked working with the men's club at the club's pork sausage supper.

He was a member of the Egypt Mills Antique Tractor Club for 13 years, and Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post No. 158 in Jackson. After his retirement, he liked working on the farm north of Whitewater.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of 26 years; a son, Kenny Rowley of Cape Girardeau; a stepdaughter, Julie (Dave) Dyer of Whitewater, Mo.; a brother, James "Jim" (Susan) Rowley of Herrin; three sisters, Janet (Dean) Golliher and Joanne (Jerry) Dillow of Anna and Margie Brock of Goreville; three step-children, Jacob Dyer of St. Charles, Mo., and Michaela and Daniel Dyer of Whitewater; a sister-in-law, Carolena Galloway of Cape Girardeau; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 15, at 10:30 a.m. at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, with the Rev. Robert R.F. Atkinson officiating.

Interment was in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with full military honors.
