Junior Wildcat Wrestlers tie for first at Carbondale event

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The A-J Junior Wildcats’ wrestling team tied for first place, 102-102, with a Memphis team in the Carbondale Dog Fight Tournament Sunday, Jan. 10.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">There were 45 teams competing and 450 kids wrestling. Teams represented five states, including Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia and Missouri.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Nine Junior Wildcats won first place honors in their weight classes. </span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Junior Wildcat Grover Blake Mays, who wrestled in the 12 years and under division, was never scored upon and was voted by the coaches as outstanding wrestler for the novice division.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Winning first place finishes for the A-J Junior Wildcats were: </span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Girls Division: Zoee Sadler, 3-0 and Kylie Hale, 2-0. Tots: Korbin Hale, 3-0.Bantam: Tate Miller, 3-0. Intermediate: Drew Sadler, 3-0; Caleb Mays, 3-0; Nile Chotner, 3-0; Brett Smith, 3-0; Novice: Grover Blake Mays, 3-0.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Second place efforts for the A-J Junior Wildcats were recorded by: Tots: Jase Holshouser, 2-1. Bantam: Noah Chotner, 2-1.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Third place effort were recorded by: Bantam: Travis Samuels, 1-2. Novice: Barry Johnson, 2-1.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Fourth place efforts were posted by Tots: JR Wright, 0-3. Bantam: Miles DeLashmutt, 0-3.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Fifth place efforts were recorded by: Intermediate: Kyle Hale, 2-1. Novice: Caleb Mays, 2-1.</span></p>
