Joyce Underhile

Joyce Underhile, 88, of Olmsted, died at 5:55 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

She was born on Sept. 30, 1920, in Brookport, the daughter of Charles and Rosey Caswell.

She married Charles O. Underhile on July 18, 1936. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1974.

She was a member of the Free Will Pentecostal Church in Olmsted. She was a member of the Trinity Christian Network. She was a babysitter.

She is survived by three sons, Carl (Mary) Underhile of Marion, Charles Underhile of Houston, Texas, and Stanley (Elaine) Underhile of Royalton; two daughters, Carolyn (Dennis) Shelton of Lamar, Colo., and Anita Underhile of Fort Collins, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, James Underhile in May 1970; her parents; three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, today, at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin with the Rev. Danny Beggs officiating. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Olmsted.
