Jonesboro defeats Cobden in Class M regional play

Jonesboro defeated Cobden in first-round action in the Class M junior high school regional boys’ basketball tournament at Goreville Wednesday, Jan. 27.

Following are game results:

Jonesboro 53, Cobden 44: Tyler Vaughn scored 17 points to lead Jonesboro to the first-round win.

Zane Dewitt and Noah Fuller added 11 points apiece. Damian Reed chipped in 5 points, Ben McFarland and Garrett Nadeau 4 apiece and Trey Pender 1.

Regular season action follows:

Egyptian 38, Jonesboro 34: Reed scored 16 points in leading host Jonesboro in the loss Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Vaughn added 15 points and McFarland 3.

Jonesboro 46, Vienna 39: Dakota Easterly scored 11 points to lead visiting Jonesboro Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Reed added 8 points, Dewitt 6, Vaughn 5, Pender 3 and McFarland, Nadeau and Fuller 2 apiece.

Jonesboro 49, Trico 36:Vaughn led the way with 11  points for host Jonesboro Friday, Jan. 15.

Reed added 9 points, McFarland 5, Dewitt and Fuller 4 each, Easterly 3 and Nadeau and Derek Harvell 2 apiece.
