John ‘Jack’ Martin Haase Jr.

John “Jack” Martin Haase Jr., 84, of Anna, died at 5:25 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Jonesboro Healthcare Center in Jonesboro.

He was born on March 27, 1925, in Blue Island,  the son of John Martin and Cornelia Kloostermann Haase Sr. 

He married Ella Mae Bernhard on April 26, 1947, in Jonesboro.

Mr. Haase is survived by his wife, Ella Mae Haase of Anna; two children, John Martin (Barbara)  Haase III of Dongola and Karen Ruth (Junior) Toler of Jonesboro; one brother, William H. (Lois) Haase of Palos Heights; two grandchildren, Melissa (Nathan) Corbit and Sean Haase; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Haase was a member of the Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna. 

He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II, when he was stationed in France and Italy. He also was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. 

He was a lifetime member of Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Anna.

Funeral services for Mr. Haase were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Dr. Rick Hertenstein officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church or  to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna was in charge of arrangements.
