A-JCHS girls’ soccer team has five seniors on roster for spring season

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School girls’ soccer team has five seniors on this roster this spring.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">“We have the potential to be a good team,” said first-year Lady Wildcats’ coach Sarah Konecek. “This really could be a good season because we have a lot of talent.”</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"> Five seniors are on the squad, including forward Natty Hepburn, sweeper Sammy Brimm, left back defender Balyie Denny, forward Haleigh Lawrence and left midfielder Baylie Stearns. Hepburn has been nursing an injury and will be out for the first part of the season.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Juniors in the mix are stopper Hannah Schlenker, center midfielder Bea Taylor and defender Taylor Smith.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Sophomores on the varsity squad are goalkeeper Chelsea Reinier, outside/stopper Jaycee Pender, center midfielder Elle Basler, left midfielder Lexa Sharp, backup goalkeeper Kaitlin Sawyer and forward Emma Butterfield-Kocher.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Freshmen who could see varsity action are right defender Lexi Smith along with Aspin Earnhart, Hunter Denny and Jacque Arreola. The positions for the final  three are yet to be determined.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Konecek is a former Carbondale High School soccer player. Her assistant coach is David Galvin.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Konecek said she believes the team has enough talent that by the end of the season it could claim a regional title.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Lady Wildcats were scheduled to open their season earlier this week against Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and are scheduled to play Thursday, today, at home against Herrin.  </span></p>
